“Scraping the ocean floor and catching all the fauna is not fishing, it is a massacre. The European Parliament needs to vote for a ban on deep-sea bottom trawling. This is crucial to the balance of the oceans, of biodiversity and even to small-scale fishing, which I support. When you are a politician, you have a commitment, a belief, you want to change things, to go in the right direction. This is typically a decision within our reach, which the European Parliament can take. We just need to decide it, to want it. I will fight for the European Parliament to go in this direction.”
