The French NGOs’ “Yellow Book”
30 November 2009
The Yellow Book was a joint response from the NGOs to the European consultation (Green Paper) on the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) reform. This very rich and detailed document (around 70 pages long) was the result of an NGO platform composed of the following organizations: BLOOM, Collectif Bar Européen, Nicolas Hulot Foundation, Greenpeace, Ocean2012, Planète Mer, WWF.
The NGOs’ Yellow Book had a significant impact: its original approach, its propositions and its consideration of artisan fishing inspired key players in the sector. It was also distributed during the “Assises de la Pêche” Fishing Negotiations, a consultation launched by the French Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in response to the French Ministry of Ecology’s “Grenelle de la Mer” negotiations.
