“I want to salute the European Union for their role in eventually banning all deep water trawling and setting the moral high ground for other regional groupings concerned about deep water trawling in their Exclusive Economic Zones. Once we can get various nations to stop doing this, then perhaps we can proceed in the remaining 65% of the oceans, that is in fact the High Seas. It is very important for the future of the oceans to stop bottom trawling which is like clear-cutting in the forest.”
