Painting by Claire Basler

“We always destroy wilderness when we make it represent something else, because that something else can always fall out of fashion.”
Dalva, Jim Harrison

At the heart of Claire’s passion for the world’s oceans lies a passion for beauty in all its diverse forms. She is an avid fan of all kinds of music, especially classical, and her favorite past time is collecting early 20th century art from Northern European countries. To get an insight into what inspires her, take a peek at the following...

CLAIRE BASLER
Claire’s favorite painter in the world, an exceptional artist and an outstanding character. Claire worked closely with Basler to produce a book on her stunning work. Claire is certain that Basler’s work will be part of  the Guggenheim’s collections one day.

PHILIPPE SEGERAL
Another of Claire’s favorite artists. Quite a striking personality: professor of linguistics at Paris University during the day, Ségéral uses his time off to patiently draw forests, trees, starlit nights and stormy seas with pencils… Beautiful.

Some more of Claire’s favorite artists: JOHN SINGER SARGENT, NICOLAS DE STAEL, WINSLOW HOMER, HELENE SCHJERFBECK.
